Epson Ink Cartridges

On December twelfth 2006 the Seiko Epson Corporation announced that they were planning on changing a few things to make their Epson ink cartridges more environmentally friendly. Theses changes were then placed on display for the world to see at the 2006 Eco-Products exhibition in Tokyo from December fourteenth to December sixteenth 2006 at the Epson booth.

At the exhibition Epson announced that they were hoping to start making the changes to the Epson Inkjet cartridges in. late December.

For the most part the changes will mostly affect only the Epson ink cartridges that are used in the larger more industrial sized printers and products.

One of the changes will include eliminating several of the environmentally harmful dies used in the hard plastic casing of the inkjet cartridges themselves. Eliminating these dies will change the plastic casing of the Epson ink cartridges from their current shade of gray to white.

Another change will be in the box the Epson ink cartridges are packaged in. Currently this box is made of eighty-eight percent recycled products. When Epson’s changes are complete the same box will be produced one hundred percent recycled products.

In the future when you're looking at the store to replace your Epson ink cartridge don’t expect to see the same brightly colored box you are accustomed to. Another change brought on in an attempt to better the environment is changing the packaging from colored ink to black and white. Also expect model and product information to be printed on separate stickers.

The only other major change in affect at this moment is that the instructions found in the new, eco-friendly boxes are going to be following the global standardization guide and will be printed in seven different languages.

Several of Epson’s Stylus Pro and PX series ink cartridges will be affected by the changes.
